Large party of people. Were received nicely by staff and gave orders but it took over an hour before getting food. Said printing issue. I didn't know they printed our food. Disappointing because we heard they were good and staff were great.

Waxy's Irish Pub is an institution in Invercargill. A very popular spot for a few drinks with friends or a good hearty Southland meal. Meals are tasty and overall pretty good. The seafood chowder is actually creamy and delicious and full of seafood, a bargain for the price compared to other restaurants near by. The pasta and bangers and mash were nice but averge, the loaded wedges were also very run of the mill and frankly disappointing. The chicken tacos are a treat and went down well.
Service was the biggest downfall, waitress seemed new, distracted and seemed stressed with her workload which meant simple items like soup spoons with the soup were missed. However 5 people and a drink $139 bucks. Very reasonable.

Good size toy box for wee ones and very accommodating of children. We did have a long wait and found some of the staff a bit forgetful but they were very apologetic especially seeing as we had a little one with us. They were busy and most likely understaffed which we understood. Great sense of humor with the dry southern kiwi vibe. Being locals we loved it. Highly recommend the waffle pudding ??'?

Nice and clean js a tad dark. Had tacos without the slaw and side of chips for lunch, as it was easier on my gut lol came in 3 ate the other one, flavorsome and light. Would have again

What a lovely place. We went there for my birthday on a Monday. It wasn't too busy and the atmosphere was lovely. The service was great and so was the food. I had the salmon, my husband had steak your way and my son the buttermilk chicken. The portions were huge but everyone enjoyed their meal and they have a good selection of cocktails as well - all very reasonably priced. Next time I'll probably go for a starter as the main as I couldn't clear my plate.

As a part of my Sperm Donation World Tour of New Zealand, in Invercargill wondering what to do when I stumbled across here. So pulled in for a drink, great layout and good vibe.

Wonderful service and food. Went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our meal. Booked for tomorrow night. 😀⭐⭐⭐⭐

We were out for a Birthday dinner with 6 adults and 2 kids under 3 years old. No orange juice was available to make a traffic light, when the side plates and steak knives were handed out they were placed in front of the kids 🤦‍♀️ we asked for the kids meals to be brought out at the same time as the entrées but they were, then the hot cheese dip and bread was also placed right in front of the kids, 2 meals of blue cod were un-edible the fish didn't taste like cod and it definitely wasn't fresh, the chips on everyone's plates were under cooked, we had to ask the bar staff to come over and take a drinks order as the service was very below par, also using an ILT as part of the payment was not an easy process...... Overall very poor service and below average food. Will not be back in a hurry.
