Water Bar actually exceeded expectations. Very good service (waiter had remarkable memory). Quick turnaround and flexible for allergies. Nice food. Recommend the burger. Busy pub-like atmosphere. Wouldn't take the kids there later in the evening but certainly kid friendly for dinner time.

Visited on our first night in Wanaka and grabbed a table at their outdoor patio overlooking the lake around sunset. You go up to the counter to order, which wasn't immediately clear to us. But the staff was helpful enough when flagged down. One of the servers made some helpful wine recommendations. We ordered the fish taco and pork butt appetizers to share - the pork was 10/10 - SO good and crispy with an amazing BBQ sauce. Lamb shank was okay - sauce was good but would have been better if it was crisped up. Service was very fast - good if you need a decent quick meal!

Came early (5pm ish) got busy quick! Food was incredible and the wings were $1 each! When they say crispy they mean crispy! So good!! Lamb shank was really good, a little fatty but you'd expect that, good selection of food and drink! Very happy we came!

It was OK. It's a standard pub with reasonably priced pub food. We had the chicken tacos and chicken burger. Both were good.
It was an ideal place to go to as we arrived in Wanaka as places were stopping food service.
There's no atmosphere, but it did the job of giving a good feed at a reasonable price.

we were looking for a place to eat on New Years and landed here because it offered the closest to what we were all craving. Customer service was good, time it took to bring the food out was quick but the food was below average. The seafood chowder was bland! No flavour at all! It was unseasoned. The lamb shank sauce was bitter did not go well with the lamb at all! It could be just their way of cooking it but I've had these dishes quite often and they've been consistently the same everywhere except here! The 15% public holiday surcharge would have worth it if the food wasn't below average. Other than that the staff and atmosphere was great.

Wonderful food and wine. Small comment would be that there were too many mustard seeds in the mash, but still recommend for dinner and drinks. Great view of the lake if you sit outside. Also has a wonderful fire on the go.

Really good food. Good atmosphere. They had TV screens around so you could watch wherever you were sitting. Great view of the lake just across the street. The outdoor area was covered so it provided shade in the beautiful sunshine.

Chicken Burger was a bit bare for $18 would have liked some more salads in it, but was super yum and washed down well with a BRB larger beyuuuuutiful.

The only place I've ever been to where the drinks have arrived after we've finished eating our meals, and only then because we asked where our drinks were when our food was first delivered - and they still took another 15min to arrive! Why does it take half an hour to pour a beer and make an espresso martini? The food was ok, and a great location, but not enough to make up for the poor service.

Awesome service with amazing staff. The pork belly ends are a must and the loaded waffle fries hit the spot.
Pity about the rude customers who thought they could eat their Subway from next door on the premises but the staff handled it in such a professional and pleasant manner.

Had lunch here twice during our stay in Wanaka. Good views of the lakefront, the buttermilk chicken burger is tasty. Also had a pumpkin and feta salad very nice. BUT the lemon and pepper squid is the BEST!!! Its a MUST HAVE!!! Squid was cooked perfectly on both occassions we ordered it :)
