Depending on your own likes, there's heaps to choose from. We were putting plates on an empty table to make room. Dessert was nice though. Made an error on costs and took quite an effort to fix it but did without question.

We were in christchurch for a wedding and did a family dinner Friday and then went back again Sunday night and the food is amazing the one in rotorua not so great but christchurch you really have it going on would definitely recommend it to anyone going down south

We visited Valentine's Hornby on Friday 14 April 2023. We've enjoyed our recent dinner visits here, as the food has been really nicely cooked & is full of flavour.

The head chef has significantly improved the dishes from what they were in the past. There is a good range of buffet dishes to suit or cater to everyone's tastes and/or dietary requirements.

We really appreciate the time & effort that the chefs & kitchen staff put into making the wide variety of dishes on offer.

The staff are friendly and kept on top of clearing plates from our table.

It pays to arrive early as parking is limited directly outside the business. If you happen to miss out on a park right outside, then don't despair as you can park just around the corner. It's only a few minutes stroll away.

It would be good if people could show their support for Valentine's, as it's so good to have a buffet option available in the Hornby area.

I was truly impressed with the food, the environment and the lovely staff. I haven't been to a Valentines in many years and thought it would be a good idea with children because they can choose little bits of every thing they want.
Lots of food choices, unlimited fizzy drink and desert selection too.
I highly recommend! (and got a free meal for my daughter because it is her birthday)

First time customers (60th wedding anniversary) and found staff to be very helpful (particularly 'Gerry'), food was good quality BUT (and it is a big but) a lot of the supposedly hot food was lukewarm at best. When we brought up the subject, the Chef personally came to our table and apologized profusely saying it appeared some of the food containers were not operating properly. Good on him for coming over and talking to us however we will not be back unless we can be assured the hot food will be hot.

Attended for the first time on Friday evening and was thoroughly impressed with both the attentive and friendly service and the quality of the food. I have found in the past at many buffets the staff appear lifeless and almost miserable. At Valentines they actually smile and greet you. If I can offer any constructive negative feedback the dish table layouts are not well thought through in terms of easing traffic. There is a small allocation of space with a few small islands of food that only invites congestion amongst diners with no clear entry and exit. It felt like I was fighting to get my food and a mission to leave the mosh pit of hungry diners. Needs a re-orientation of the layout. Lanes will be beneficial. Will be back however. Best buffet in town.

We have had lunch or dinner here a few times since they reopened.
While the place is small so bookings are probably recommended, the food is fresh and it easily beats hands down another buffet out let. Pricing is good, staff are friendly, food is fresh. Also have a option for bottomless soft drinks if you choose that as a option to be included in your meal which we found ideal for the kids.

First time dining here. Awesome range of food. Braised pork belly was bloody yum! Sea food selection was ??'?🏼 dessert was great. Karaage chicken was a little dry, but hey it wasn't bad. You absolutely get ya money's worth here and recommend it heaps 😋

Who would of thought Valentines still exist, not the same as they used to be, still a good range of food, but slow at coming out and refilling up, or topping up the plates, customer service was a bit slack especially coming to check if we wanted to order drinks. Food was nice, but needs to have signs to say whether its spicy or not, had one dish, didnt smell spicy but was.. was quite pricey for what we got.

We went this evening and the service was excellent! The staff were so helpful and friendly. It was super clean and we'll stocked with great food. Food was fantastic, will be returning with the kids. I loved the chocolate fountain, never had one before. So much fun!

We were there for our anniversary dinner date. The venue and smorgasbord style of dining suited our date as we had to go out to another event and we were able to set a time to finish as there was no waiting for ordered food to be cooked. Our lovely waitresses were very friendly and helpful and the food selection was excellent. There was a wide range of dishes, from soups and entrees, through salads and cold vegetables, to hot dishes, and a selection of foods that the chefs would cook on the spot. There was a selection of roast meats in the carvers, all sorts of delicious pots of cooked dishes, and the dessert table was mouth- watering, and did not disappoint. Thank you to our waitresses for making our evening more enjoyable.
Though a little pricey for us oldies, the food and service were, in my opinion, worth every cent!

Absolutely lovely! Strongly recommend this buffet. We had a lovely mean and all the food was great. The ribs and the chicken bites definitely need improvement but overall we had a great time and most certainly will be going again!
