Great place with great meals, their burgers are to die for and are easily some of the best around. Good wheelchair access from the main road and it's easy to get to the bathrooms and the gaming room. Would definitely recommend :)

Absolutely glorious place! Been coming here since the day I moved to Nelson and been treated like a local from day dot. Awesome staff, awesome layout, awesome place.

Totally blown away $17.50 two gurnard and half a scoop. Beyond Happy to pay that a million times over, for the perfectly cooked FRESH fish coated in tempura style light crispy batter, steak cut fries also perfectly cooked and well drained. Huge portions and served in a cardboard tray before one layer of paper wrapping. Drove from pick up in tahuna back to stoke to our food still hot NOT soggy and enjoyed. Top form thanks for a great meal we will be back ☺️

Half an hour after ordering we were told that one meal ordered was unavailable. Then the next two options that were chosen were also unavailable. Over an hour later the meals were presented. There were only approximately 6 other people there. The roast vegetable salad contained ONE piece of roast sweet potato and consisted of mesculan salad and a few bits of deep fried noodles. Had asked for shrimps to be added and arrived with what looked like fried minced chicken. A mistake was made we were told. Prawn cocktail was SWIMMING in a weird tasting pink dressing . Mussels that were supposidly in a coconut chillie broth arrived minus any broth. Beef burger was inedible and after four of us trying it we could not decide what it actually consisted of. Extremely salty, tasted of bacon and who knows what else. Bun was like cardboard. Very strange. Chillie cheese bread was hot on the outside but cheese still unmelted and cold throughout. Best part was the staff and their politness. VERY DISAPPOINTING and won't be returning.

Awesome place to chill next to the beach, awesome food and quality you won't find elsewhere. Must stop for all your restaurant needs or if you simply want an ice cold beer, don't leave it in the sun though 😁. There is plenty of seating and a great environment to enjoy.

Sands kitchen more like sands frozen tv dinners food is bland and depressing not even starving children would enjoy this No love in food thrown together no seasoning maybe if you are over the age of 70 this would be your ideal place Staff were un happy and looked like they were ready to run .. high 20s to low 40s prices go elsewhere unclean too stunk of ammonia do better

As a local that has frequented the Sands many times in the past - I was a little disappointed this time around. As a family of 8 wanting lunch, we had ordered chips and drinks, with more of us arriving. One of my cousins had mixed up the venues and ordered chips from the shop down the road, but still wanted to sit with us. My Uncle was ordering more drinks and food, when a rather aggressive gentleman (Manager?) confronted my aunt and said we couldn't eat those chips here - an understandable policy, just terribly delivered. Maybe he was a bit stressed with Christmas and staffing I suspect (the other bar person was super nice and appologetic). Anyway, not his finest moment - maybe he may reflect on his behaviour and treat people with more compassion in the future. Merry Xmas!

Came here for a quick snack.
Host very kind and patient and explained all of the options, and even brought a sample for us to try first.
Food ordered and came quickly tasted great but for us oldies portions too big. But that is not their fault but our small eating habits.

20th Nov. We were greeted by a large barking dog that came from behind the bar which was good as it meant the girl sitting behind the bar had to look up from her gram feed to see who was bothering her. A friendly "ya all right there?" was just the reason we needed to walk out and 5 minutes down the road to the Boatshed Cafe where we had a fantastic breakfast and great coffee in a beautiful setting and all for the same price! Suggest you do the same after reading this.

We came in for food and drinks food takes more than 3quatars to bring food. We ask for how long it'll take but she got offensive and was rude to us.

Good selection of tap beers, friendly service and standard pub food at reasonable prices. Has outdoor seating which will be good for the summer as its right next to Tahunanui Beach

Food is amazing. The owner Phil is a bit of humour. Very nice Pokie room. The staff were incredible. The main bar manager is a good man. Music was fantastic although the singer on the music video seemed to be out of sync with the actual sound.

Went for a walk down Tahuna beach with the dog then came here as they are dog friendly. The first to get a drink served was the dog which was great. I had a cooked breakfast minus the toast and potato as I am low carb. They seemed to have added extra everything else so had a good plateful. My partner had roast vege salad. Had an interesting nice dressing on it. She thought the dressing was chilli but not too hot. With a wine and a lemonade (yes I know carbs) was around $60. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will be back.
