Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my service today. I came for a lunch, happily ordering off the specials menu, they came back and said would you rather blue cod or hoki, we said blue cod they never mentioned the change in price, when we told them at the counter they said it was our fault and didn't charge us the specials price, charged us the price of the meal of the fish and chips which was an extra $25 to what we were expecting to pay.

Great place for a meal, nice casual atmosphere, awesome food, staff were perfect and prompt and made us feel like they were glad we came for dinner.

Lovely friendly staff, great food, and nice atmosphere.
I had porterhouse steak with mushroom sauce. Meat was perfectly cooked to my requested state. My dining companions had the schnitzel and roast of the day (pork). Both meals were generous portions and well prepared.
All meals were very good and reasonably priced.

Ok, first of all it's a pub. That's right, pool tables, t.a.b, pokery's and condom machines in the tiolets. One would not expect anything better than pub food, and there for the rope and twine should not be judged on any other level than mear pub food. Having said this, the stake at the rope and twin would stand up against most of the fine dining experiences I've had, as far as the food goes. It's hard to fult. I particularly enjoyed the peppercorn source, which I suspect had been prepared with green peppercorns rather than the traditional black, giving it that satisfying peppery pop as one chews. The staff were attentive and most helpful but would have to say the food was the winner. A most enjoyable dining experience.

Another one of the top grade food in South Dunedin. This is a restaurant cum bar which serves traditional pub foods. We all like the food we had here during boxing day. They were nicely done and delicious, especially the porky ones. I'm a bit disappointed that the blue cod was not so fresh. But the prawns were springy and fresh. Service and serving of food was fast, and the place had a quiet ambience, which is good for catching up with family and friends.

Love the guy who managed to find a seat for us 10 ppl, even we walked in. He's Very friendly and helpful in taking order and serve the food. Tonight we had a wonderful dinner here. Tuatara tap beer is highly recommended!

Wow talk about value for money and great service. The meals were delicious and huge!! Even the half size. Great priced kids menu ... then the staff brought over an activity bag which helped us with entertaining a 3 year old. Nana loved a sneaky visit to the pokies while we waiting for dinner to be cooked. Good atmosphere. Lots of seating options.

Whanau, absolutely great meal. The Ham Steak was the size of my Bros Ego. Service is absolutely amazing also.

The best restaurant I've ever been too. I highly recommend it, the food is great and the staff are so lovely. Will be definitely be going back!

Haven't been to this pub for a very long time. It has been refurbished inside and looks really good. The meals I've got to say have definitely picked up and are of a really good standard. Staff are very pleasant and also prompt in making you feel welcome on arrival. I will be going back again as I thoroughly enjoyed it. Car parking is there but can fill up pretty quick. 2 accesses to the park and both off main thoroughfares and entry/exits at both points come out onto traffic lights so just be careful. For those of you who enjoy a gamble they have a gaming room as well. I have really enjoyed this local and they have done well to build it up. Congratulations ..

This is a cozy bar and restaurant in South Dunedin. One thing that makes me interested is they have specials deals and promotions during the week. So you can choose which suit you. The staffs are friendly and provides excellent services. Price is good, taste yum, cozy dining room, clean and they play the music fairly. Will back next time to experiencing other dish.
