Wonderful local to pop into, which so happened to be the-All-Blacks-versus-the-Springboks game last night. Many beautiful patrons, some stunners, oh and the food - wow! Meaty and manly size! hehe Gorgeous staff, personable and engaging who really enjoy their people interactions, which is just the coolest thing 😄 Management: wonderful! I enjoyed watching the interactions between her, her staff and her customers ♥️ Well-trained staff, seemed ready breezy -great workers x

If your in town, this is the place to stop for a proper bite to eat. Was fully booked when we went so service was pretty slow but we were warned before booking which was much appreciated for both parties I'd say.

Good place for kids for food n drawings and room to roam around. Steak and salad was beautifully cook but mushroom sauce out of a packet🤦🏽‍♂️ why!!! Love the soup of the day. Seafood chowder not bad needing alittle more meat and the big seafood platter is good, just not to keen on just marinated mussels out of a punnet. Love the older bar staff awesome and inviting and engaged with the kids. Owner is abit grumpy. And Still gutted about the mushroom. Best place for a Guinness??'?

Went for group lunch. Nice Kai. Enjoyed my afternoon. We all ordered different plates, all really nice. Good service.

Update: Super busy, but the staff handled it like champs 🏆. I can't say anything bad about my meal or the entrees, but 1 of my guest sent his plate back as it wasn't cooked properly. No biggie, no drama. Good vibes at The Rivers.

To cater to our 20 strong party with so much enthusiasm and humour, was awesome. My steak was fabulous...best I've had in ages. Thank you for a great night out with our whole whanau.

Super busy night being new years day plus a festival on the water. Very grateful to be seated and fitted in, lovely friendly staff we were looked after very well. Food was plentiful and enjoyed. The cob loaf for entree was superb! The lamb was delicious! Wonderful team thank you!

I like to come in here off-hours when it's less busy for a late lunch or an early dinner. I had to skip the peach sponge pudding last night because I was so full from the surf and turf with salad and I opted for baked potato and sour cream instead of fries. DELICIOUS !

Casual wear good outing enjoyed the experience being my first time dining here, Service was great on point those girls...Food was scrumptous meals were filling and i loved my fruit crumble so delicious

We regularly dine at The River's Restaurant, mainly because we enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, the pub menu and the friendly staff.
Recently however, we were concerned that some of the new staff members were not wearing masks although this is currently required for hospitality.

Good meals at good prices. Nice cozy atmosphere but can get very busy so best to book ahead.
Staff are friendly and food comes out in a reasonable time.

To the person/people that have commented about the 'noise'... this is an Irish Bar/Pub/Restaurant... what did you expect? Go buy a sandwich and eat it in a library if you want peace and quiet!

Always great value for money and fantastic service. We love it as a family friendly venue with loads of atmosphere and central to everything. Gorgeous views over the river and lots of different styles of seating. Love this place. Love the board specials as well as the comprehensive everyday menu!

This place is always packed which says a lot about it. It's pub style food so the prices are very reasonable, but there are also restaurant type dishes too.
I had the nachos which were great and couldn't finish them all there was so much. My guest had a ribeye steak with their choice of sides. Both meals came around 10 minutes after ordering which is really fast considering most of the tables were full.
It would be suitable for families but maybe go earlier as it can get quite loud into the night, it is a pub after all.
