This hotel and motel is pumping with life. Great friendly service from the get go. My drivers were feed,watered and sent on their way with a great lunch.
A service not seen in chch for many years.
There were so many people dining or staying that we had trouble parking our truck.

We went for lunch with a small group of Seniors.
Firstly the place is so wonderfully bright and clean, and the staff to a person are warm and engaging. We asked for the "Gold Star Lunch Menu" i.e. A special one for Kiwi Gold Card ("over sixty-fives").
Lovely selection, excellent price , no "skimping" I.e. Good portion size and beautifully cooked and presented.
Desserts spot-on.
Finally it was nice to feel welcome, well looked after and leaving wonderfully replete.
Thanks to the whole team - front of house and kitchen.

Awesome place, plenty of parking and Awesome staff, friendly locals, and good food. The room I stayed in was very nice also lot's of room for trucks. Will definitely be coming back

Convenient to city and Airport. Rooms good size, quiet, but a bit tired. Linen clean and fresh. The shower curtain over the bath was just starting to look a little scummy. Having restaurant on site also saves decision's, meals well priced, bacon and mushrooms well prepared, flavoursome and perfect sized portion.

Room had not been vaccumed. Shower controls and rose very dirty. Shower floor had talc on it which we do not use. No teatowel, dish wash or kitchen cloth to wash dishes as stayed 2 nights. Meal in restaurant was a shocker. Chicken dry and overcooked. Seafood basket presented in a stainless steel bowl with a sheet of baking paper lining it. Fish definitely not fresh and the rest tasteless and over cooked. Have stayed in the past but service has slipped dramatically. Would not stay again

Didn't stay at hotel, just visited the bar. There was 1 guy on the bar at 3.30pm Thurday 30th March. Couldn't even greet with a hello. I've never felt less welcome in an empty bar. Ordered a beer, a short and 2 bar meals. Still not a word from the barman. Not very hospitable for a hospitality venue. Delivered the food with no condiments and still no words came from this person's mouth. Absolutely disgusting behavior from whom I can only assume is the duty manager. I won't waste my money here or recommend the place to meet at with my friends. 1 star is generous. If I owned the place, I'd fire him. Locals said he's always like that.

Their is a ghost here can be a interesting time. I had an interesting time here being meet by the ghost, it touched my arm while I was living in bed. Apart from that the place was great place to stay

Clean room, however there was no one at the reception to greet us. We had to go to the bar to ask for help. Then I rang them to ask for the WiFi password as it appeared to be wrong and the lady on the phone was extremely rude! I asked her nicely and she almost started yelling at me then rushed to disconnect the call. I could hear her slamming the phone. I wouldn't stay here again.

Affordable stay, super friendly service, very tidy, clean, quiet location. Appliances are aging, but still highly recommend

The room was very excellent, the staff very friendly and helping. I fully recommend the racecourse hotel the place to stay as next time my partner and i will be staying. Thanks to everyone who made our stay memorable.

Am very disappointed in the accommodation, having what appeared to be used sheets, also we went into the bar for a drink and the duty manager at time was very rude to us, he told us if we wanted a meal, we were to order it later, also very disappointed to see younger kpeople who looked 16 getting served and very intoxicated. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Definitely a 1 star outfit.. and asked who owner was, he pointed to a large man in corner who seemed to be very intoxicated himself... big disappointment, will look for accommodation else where when in Christchurch.

Clean comfortable rooms at a very good price. The restaurant and bars are on site with good wholesome food. Daily roast was on the menu and good value. Accommodation popular with contractors and truck drivers so you might get an early wake up call when they leave in the morning. Good spot for a night on business if you're working local.

We didn't stay buy visited the restaurant 23 august 2022. Didn't book but there was 14 of us that turnt up. Restaurant was busy as there was bookings. Rocked in just before eight pm. I just want to say thank you for taking us In. Well done to the team especially the one chef and one kitchenhand who cooked all our food was absolutely amazing work and delicious 🤤??'?😎

Considering the restaurant wasn't busy there was a lengthy wait for our meals. When the meals arrived they were only just warm which was not expected as they came straight from the kitchen. The meal was edible but we would have preferred to have hot meat and vegetables. It's not the first time we have had cool meals here.

I stay here everytime im down from Auckland. It's such a nice vibe. From the reception staff, restaurant staff right to the housekeeping. The service I get here is amazing. The rooms are well looked after and clean. May have to maneuver your way out of the parking lot at night as there are always huge trucks parked around. But overall an awesome experience. ??'?

We've had some variations with quality over the years of going here but presently its great. Gosh what lovely staff, smiles, greetings, always a hello or a goodbye. Food is very nice and certainly manage to eat enough. Nothing is an issue. Found the sauce btw 😀

Usually have a great meal here. Last night's wasn't the usual quality. The chips were double dipped in hot oil, it appeared that the fish was too. Sorry just not the usual standard we are used too. We will be back but only to see if it was a bad night. Staff were happy and helpful.
