Called in for Lunch on our way home from The Greta Valley. Sat in the garden area which was lovely and was advised food would be around a 30 minute wait which was fine.

After 50 minutes and food coming out for other families who had arrived after us I asked the waitress and she said she would go and check. Another 30 minutes passed and more meals coming out I went to the bar with my daughter and was told they didn't want to ask in the kitchen what had happened to our order as they were so stressed and didn't want to get shouted at!

They offered us some drinks which was a nice gesture and said if our food hadn't come out in 10 minutes we could have a refund. Another 20 minutes and it still hadn't arrived so I went back inside with my table number and one of the waitresses/cooks came up to me. I explained we had been waiting nearly 2 hours and she replied that they had a function later and one of the fryers had broken... which I couldnt understand as everyone elses fish and chips etc were coming out? I asked for a refund which she handed me without any eye contact or apology.

We all left quite upset, hungry and frustrated with how we had been treated. I honestly think that our meal would never had come even if we waited another hour!

Just fantastic! We ordered the pizza, chicken schnitzel, and the chicken burger. They were all delicious! Dessert was great too, cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Staff were wonderful and the live band was exceptional (The Flat City Brothers).

Great ambiance, good drinks and service, people are friendly, but not a huge fan of the food, chicken tender tastes over fried, dry and tough, the soup of the day is actually the best dish of the meal, the bread roll with it it's also pretty nice, but that's about every good to say about this meal, pizza isn't horrible, but tastes very much like frozen or supermarket ones, and the fish and chips are also over cooked, especially the fish, and the batter isn't even properly coating the fish, making the fish partially exposed to the oil, just like the chicken, it spends too much time in the fryer, dry, charred, and very very greasy, I believe this is my first time giving up finishing a fish's batter just because it's so greasy. The prices are actually not too bad thou.

Fantastic old style pub beautifully restored. Amazing beer garden. Brilliant food and beer. Very friendly and helpful service.... Wish it could be my home pub !

Awesome place, good ole kiwi service. Great pub size meals. Loved the place. We were recommended to walk to the beach which was really a nice walk. Accommodation is a bit rough still, but we were pre warned as it is a work in progress.

Fab food great garden bar and friendly staff

Friendly staff and the food was exceptional. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection, chicken was juicy and flavourful. But the soup, oh my god, the homemade tomato soup is thee best soup I have ever had. My Mum and daughter agreed. I think I'll be driving out to Leithfield every time I visit Christchurch now, just to have another bowl of the lovely chef's tomato soup.

Sunday afternoon family meal . 7 adults and 3 kids under 7. Great music great service from all staff including the owner/ chef.All our meals arrived together. The meals were great value for money and very tasty and yummy. This country pub has a green atmosphere.We will be back

Moved into the area and had a nice meal in the bar. Great value $15 Tuesday. We arrived late but they still sorted us out. Really welcoming and good hearty food. Will head back for more. Thanks.

Mothers day had Danni and Hoods playing some beautiful music. We enjoyed the outdoor setting in this unique little country pub then chowed down for dinner. The chef is amazing food was absolutely spot on. Enjoyed myself thoroughly 😊

I like this pub. My local. Had a change in owners. Food top notch. Missed my berry cider though. Love the outdoor area. Plenty of parking. Can get busy, crowded. Great vibe.
