The rooms are well kitted out - heaters, fans, amenities, etc. They are a small home away from home. The staff are happy to cater to requests - it was no trouble getting an extra pillow. The location is just off the Octagon, which made it easy to get around Dunedin. The hotel also has a lift, making access easily for those with mobility aids.

Booked this on line from bookings on line . Loved what we saw , loved the room over looking town , big room table room to move liked location. BUT not what we got no where near it . Was given a very small room with No AC ,paint coming off the wall , no room to move, very disappointed . Went to speak to staff and was told that's what you get , same size bed.didn't even offer another room.
I wouldn't book here.
But location is good .

This place looks nice, but is not nice at all. We stayed for one night. We locked our room in the evening. At night we saw some light in the room and we thought it should be alright. In the morning the door was open. So somebody looked in our room while we're sleeping.
Also the smell in the room is really bad. It was like a fried restaurant.

Definitely not what is advertised!
Booked a room as the pictures on the website looked nice. Our room was tiny, had paint peeling off the walls and no place to sit. There was also no airconditioning and lots of road noise. Definitely not worth a visit.

Good value pub meal experience. Ideally situated at the bottom end of town.
Last time I was here on a cruise, the whole mid section of town was a 'pop up market'. Had to walk up to the cathedral to get around the circus! If you're coming off a cruise ship, this is your first port of call. It's located just where the markets start. So, readily accessible location. And friendly owner/staff. Family business.
Highly recommend the roast of the day. $22. Wife had the porterhouse for $31. Worth every cent. Mash, veg and choice of gravies.

The worst food and wait in meals ever! Bar staff were nice but meals took way way too long to come. Ran out of food and didn't ask for alternative order until way past when meals should have come out. Also witnessed kitchen staff yelling at wait staff which was not a good look. Big shame

After my husband was helicoptered to Dunedin Hospital I unexpectedly found myself in Dunedin for two weeks with no transport. The Law Courts Hotel suited my needs perfectly. Easy walking distance to the hospital, supermarkets and the Meridian. Hotel was clean and comfortable and staff super helpful when I needed my luggage moved. Definitely recommend.

Room I stayed in was very clean. Beds are a bit hard and soundproofing not the best as I could hear someone coughing down the hall.
Service great and love the old tiling in the toilet and bathroom.

Fantastic view from the room
Breakfast was abit disappointing toast was burnt and eggs were hard but I'm sure if I had mentioned it they would've redone them. I didn't ask so can't be fussy if you don't ask besides that it seemed ok to me. I would visit there again
Asthetically interesting in a good way

Let's preface this with: the rooms were clean, the towels soft and the bed good. Aside from that the rooms need a bit of maintenance. If all you are doing is sleeping there this will be ok. Don't drink the breakfast coffee... And the breakfast buffet was the saddest one I've seen.

My son & I went for dinner on the 22 Dec. Staff were Friendly, and the service was spot on. I was very impressed by how the staff interacted with my (very busy) four-year-old son. These interactions made him feel welcome and set the stage for a pleasant evening. The Meals we ordered were delicious. The Roast beef was the highlight. It was tender, and the homemade gravy was true to its name. We are looking forward to our next visit.
