I went there last week with my nephew his wife and 2 children is I live in Blenheim my nephew told me this is the place he went to always he said it was wonderful at all I can do is say it was great lovely family sort of laid-back restaurant it was lovely I know now when I come back to Christchurch I will more than happily go there again a great place

I went to eat here with some friends a few weeks ago. One friend asked if there were any vegan options. She was told that there wasn't, as the pizza bases had butter in them. We went to this bar as I had earlier overheard another patron ordering a vegan pizza which she was subsequently served. Either my friend was lied to or the patron was served a non vegan pizza. A friend of mine who goes to the bar regularly, subsequently confirmed there was no butter in the pizza base, confirming that the kitchen just couldn't be bothered serving my friend. It also confirmed that they lied to my friend/a customer. This is supposed to be New Zealand's best local bar. I find this hard to believe given it does not cater for a growing group of the population. I would not recommend this bar to anyone with dietary restrictions.

A group of 6 of us dining in and each choosing differently. Food was great and good quantity so no one left feeling hungry. 'Doggy bags' were taken by 3 because there was just much to get thru. Dessert enjoyed by 2 and good coffee enjoyed by another 2. We have been before and we will go again.

Actually, I would rate this establishment zero stars.

We had a table booked for a group of 12, two of us watched the rest of the table eat their meals while we were waiting patiently, by the time we got sick of waiting and everyone at our tables nearly finishing their dinner we asked why we hadn't recieved our meals yet and they had been cancelled. Both of us left very hungry and dissapointed. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you like to be forgotten about. Also, you might want to update your website with your false advertising.

Went here for my sons birthday as had heard good things . Was really disappointed. Was really disorganised in the restaurant as had to go find someone to see where we were sitting . When we were ready to order once again had to go ask someone to come take out drink and dinner order .
Garlic cheese bread arrived hard and burnt around the edges . My husband and son had ribs which they said were average as not much meat on them . I had the pork belly which was delicious. Daughter had pasta that she said was average and bland .
I work in hospitality and never complain but this needed to be told or it will continue to disappoint.
Bar was lovely and cosy .

Went on Wednesday night for a beer and bowl of fries. It was a good vibe from walking in the door. the service was great .Good selection of food on offer , Specials every day , good portion size of fries . Great, they don't have those small metal baskets that a lot of places serve fries in . well worth checking out

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Elmwood Trading Company, a pub in Christchurch, New Zealand, and I have to say, it exceeded all of my expectations. The food was astonishingly good, with a menu that offered a great variety of options that were all expertly prepared. The portions were more than generous, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The quick service and relaxing atmosphere made for a fantastic dining experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that I was comfortable throughout my visit. I would highly recommend The Elmwood Trading Company to anyone looking for a great meal in a relaxed and welcoming setting. It's truly a must-go for anyone visiting Christchurch.

I was very disappointed I have always enjoyed my visit to this establishment good choice of Beers and very friendly staff and dog friendly but on this occasion it wasn't. Outside was full so my guest and I sat at a table by the open door to the outside area. I asked for a water bowl for my dog the young lady said she couldn't find the water bowl I suggested just a plastic dish of any type. She never returned I ask a Second female staff member and she told me that I shouldn't have my dog inside. I informed her that I had been many times and had originally asked if it was ok which I was told of course. For a community Bar that has won awards the hospitality was rubbish and I will be asking my friends who frequent this bar not to bother. Maybe a case when the Boss is away. I have had many years in the industry overseas and Nationally this would never happen on my watch. A real sign of the shortage of good quality staff in New Zealand.

For a local pub meal this place is fantastic. We popped in (4 of us) without bookings, lucky to get the last table available (place was chokka, & very busy as always - & this in itself is a great sign of a good place to visit). Ordered mains & drinks, service was ok, maybe a little slow but given the numbers of diners, not overly concerned. We ordered a variety of meals, pizza's, Chicken Nuggest (for 4 y/o), & I had Beef Cheeks. I'm a big beef cheeks fan - I can honestly say I've never had better anywhere - just unbelievably tender, and tasty. Very basic presentation which I love - just cheeks on a potato mash, with fresh crunchy veges underneath. All in a fantastic sauce - all in all, to die for. Cost of meal each & a drink each $115 very acceptable based on what you pay around town.

I ordered blue Cod. Come with a full basket of chips. 2x very small/thin cod fillets and small very basic salad. Fish was oily.
We struggle to afford a meal out and to spend $34 on chips is very disappointing
Just a little love to the salad could of changed the meal

Busy place, pretty good atmosphere, more drinkers than eaters.
We had a group of 10 mixed ages from under 10 to over 70.
Ordered two dishes of calamari as an entree, food arrived quick.
For an $18 entree was expecting more than 6 pieces of calamari on each plate.
Ordered the full ribs as a main, don't recommend these they were overcooked and drowning in burnt sauce. Kids meals consisted of a few chips under 10 and the fish or chicken way over cooked.
Pretty common theme across all our meals.
Disappointing as we have eaten here before and the food was far superior.
Best neighbour bar maybe, but there food needs some work.
Will not be returning here for a meal again.

Chicken schnitzell was delicious and Nasi Goreng a treat to find offered on the menu!

Nice place, thought the platter for two was a little shy on substance but very well presented and very delicious 😋

Your service and customer focus was 10 out of 10.
Meals were all enjoyed by all and a good size.. Panhead IPA super charge was beer of choice.

Really impressed with the quality of food and reasonable prices. Definitely not typical pub grub. Great atmosphere, tastefully decorated interior with lots of character. Staff were lovely too.

Even quiet at lunch time about 1pm.the food quality was pretty good, coffee also good, and staff is kind and lovely girl. :-) recommended
