We go to watch Open Mic every second Tuesday. They have an awesome slider deal, but you can also order off main menu. The Open Mic is great too!

Great food, facilities and service. We booked The Ammo Room for my son's 21st birthday. The staff were super helpful leading up to the celebration (and on the night including setting up the room and furniture). Barracks were also very accommodating (providing options for food allergies). Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our special occasion!

We recently celebrated our dad's birthday & used the private room. The room had a great layout & was well presented. Making whanau bonding time great!

We also selected from their buffet menu & were so happy with the quality & portions of all meals, as they were so delicious & very generous sized.

We were well looked after by their friendly & helpful staff from planning through to cleanup at the end. Thanks Barracks!

Heard good about this place. Up until we went there for some bar snacks. The staff in the bar said they can only do wedges and chips. Unfortunately the woman sitting near the bar said she already turned off everything and explained other stuffs. RUDE. We decided to walk away. If only there's a zero star then that woman deserves it. Wouldn't be coming back and will spread by word of mouth.

My parents and I were totally blown away by the seafood platter for 4!!! It was so good we are going back there again tonight😊 The overall atmosphere is definitely for all ages and I rate this establishment 10/10! Well done??'-

What an amazing experience here at the barracks sports bar. We hired out the AMMO room for our wedding reception and have not one regret.
Catherine and Denise and other staff made the whole day come together with no stresses involved.
The food was amazing (cheeseboards and buffet menu 🤤🤤) perfect! ??'?. Child friendly and great atmosphere all round.

Had an enjoyable evening at Barracks tonight for dinner. Hubby and I ordered a seafood platter which was delicious. The bar staff were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend

So great, we love it!!! Really good beer, food and atmosphere. The bar is decorated and it has a lot of space. Denise and the waitress were very kind :)

Was pretty good but feel a better selection and bigger portions can be had at another establishment we frequent. Still overall a nice meal at a good price.

A fantastic night at Barracks. Held our daughter and son in law wedding reception there. Great buffet meal, excellent service and well presented private room. Thanks Denise and team, an enjoyable end to a great day

Went with a group. We had to wait over an hour for our meals after having orders taken. When I received my meal it was cold . There was another group in the building who appeared to get preferential service. We were informed we would get a 15% reduction on our meals for the inconvenience, which I did not receive . Our group will not go back there for a meal. Management made feeble excuses for delay which were unacceptable .

Great food. Great vibe. Fantastic host/owner. The barracks is like a sports museum with food and drink...giant photos and beautifully presented sports memorabilia including amazing signatures on the walls (local and international sports heroes) Live sports on giant tvs'. Games. It's an amazing place to have a drink with 1 friend or 100 party guests ( I dont know how many people they can book in, a lot more than 100 I suspect) Just a really great place and an asset to Whanganui.

Staff were great but disappointed in meal. Asked for roast lamb and got mashed potato with broccoli and cauliflower. No roast veges at all. And still felt hungry as not much on. Plates but was nicely cooked and yummy.

Beautiful lunchtime meal today. The tables look gorgeous, very nicely presented.🤣 Plenty of room. The only criticism, if anything, was the service was a bit slow but if you're with friends and talking the time soon passes anyway.
