The food came out suspiciously fast and did not taste fresh at all. Both times I've come food has not been appetising, and I've tried a variety of dishes - sushi, curry, noodles, ramen. All are below average and lack any real flavour. Avoid the edamame beans as well. Staff also made us feel unwelcome by giving us the cheque to pay while we were still eating. And they were watching us until we finished. 2 strikes for Takeichi and I will not return for to be disappointed for a 3rd time.

Absolute must if u like Japanese food and are in town!
We came on Friday for lunch. We were given two warm hand towels on arrival. Such a nice gesture. Place filled up fairly quickly after we sat down.

I ordered umeshu (plum wine), that I wanted to try for a very long time. Very delicious - not last time I am having that one.
We had 2 bowls of ramen (clear chicken ramen and creamy chicken ramen) with extra toppings and both were prepared very fats and were super delicious.

The place is beautifully done. Currently live painting event we have enjoyed watching. Fantastic decore, music and atmosphere is just right.

Staff was very pleasant and attentive. And once at checkout you can buy a little themed souvenirs such as origami.

Enjoyed our visit veré very much.

We mostly get pork ramens and this is our first time having the chicken variety - found them pretty good. Very tasty, flavourful, clean ramen. I like that they don't use the funky-type ramen noodles.
The spicy ramen is too gently-spiced and needs to be level-up. The takoyaki serving is too small for the price. Mochi ice cream was a nice finish to the meal.

Definitely worth it! The salmon was so fresh that it melted while we had it. Grilled unagi fish on rice was tasty and my husband finished it immediately. The mussel was interesting as it was done with spicy sauce but still got its rich flavor. The soup had good soup base but the ramen was not very chewy. Will go there again!!!

What a fab place, lots of variety of things to eat. Staff made us very welcome and helpful, even made my daughter welcome when she asked where she could feed her baby. Nice atmosphere, definitely going to eat there again real soon.

I loved this place. Surprisingly affordable given the amount of food we had. The food is very good quality. Service was quick and excellent. Decor is interesting.

Miso udon was perfect. Dry udon was also very good. The tofu salad was a bit short of dressing.

I cannot recommend it enough for reasonably priced Japanese udon.

A unique and cool Japanese designed restaurant. There are two artificial trees with pretty autumn leaves inside the restaurant that gives it that Japan aesthetic, feel and experience as you dine here. The ramen here is not bad, ramen noodles are cooked well and the broth is pretty tasty but the chicken and egg was slightly cold. The portion is not a lot and just enough but expensive for what you get.

Yummy ramen and great service. The resturant was cute and tidy. There was a little origami station which I thought gave a nice touch to the place. It's abit on the expensive side but you can't get ramen like this anywhere else in Dunedin so I guess they can do that.

I've been here more than 20 times and I'm 100% confident that this is the best ramen place in Dunedin and possibly NZ. As someone who has been to Japan, my ramen expectations is quite high and this place manage to satisfy my cravings sufficiently. Do note it's a chicken ramen place so do not expect tonkotsu although their chicken ramen is as thick as I expect it to be. One interesting discovery is thier vegetarian ramen. It's really good! I sometimes go for this instead of the chicken ramen if I feel like eating abit healthier. For both, I recommend the creamy version. Mazesoba is also really nice. Though I prefer if I can have the Mazesoba noodle in my soup ramen. Just a fan of thicker noodles!

What a find. Chic interior design with origami and maple trees inside. Comic books for you to read. Authentic Japanese chicken Ramen comes with clear or creamy soup base. The ramen bowls are super tasty and filling, we couldn't even finish a portion. Small dishes are really nice too, go really well with the ramen bowls. Chicken soup is thick and yum, the smell is heavy. Cocktails are nice and creative with a Japanese hint. Friendly and attentive staff is always a plus. Worth mentioning that their Tacowasabi is really fresh, especially compared to what we had last night at the isakaya Yuki, taco is crisp and chewy. Will definitely come again, thanks for the amazing meal.
