This review is for PJ's Cafe. The cafe is part of the "hotel / bar", so the overall ambience is very much more of a bar than a cafe at least part of the time. The food portions are quite nicely big, and I enjoyed my flat white coffee. For $10 I got coffee, a big club sandwich and a big piece of fruit cake. Since I was there around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, the cafe was technically 'closed', but since it's attached to the bar I was still served. The lady who served me was pleasant. The music from the bar was intrusive but not awful. I don't know what time the bar opens, so it's possible that earlier in the day the bar is closed and it's quite in the cafe. It's fortunate that I like music from the 70's and 80's, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered to stay. The bar patrons were a little noisy from time to time as they played pool, but overall it was passable. It's difficult to really give an accurate description of the cafe since the bar impacted significantly on me at the time I was there. If the bar was closed I'd say the cafe is a pleasant, if unremarkable, affair with a good selection of both savoury and sweet foods, with pretty good coffee. Seating is reasonable and passably comfortable, and the overall tone is slightly arty, clean and tidy. I would go again, especially if the bar is closed. The fruit cake was really tasty! With the bar closed, I'd say the cafe is a 3.5 star (almost a 4) given it's location.
