Work dinner night @strathmorelocal
Last night, my colleagues and I decided to go somewhere local for a "goodbye for now" celebration at Strathmore Local.
Pretty cool that they do FREE UPSIZE for their burgers and steak on Monday nights. That means, extra onion rings, mushrooms and eggs. Nice deal!
We ordered burgers, pizzas and steak. Although I didn't taste the burgers and pizzas, by looking at them, the burgers looked pretty scrumptious (especially with the extra upsize bits), and the pizzas, let's say they looked like pub style pizzas rather than the Italian wood fired style!
My steak dish tho, it was okay! I loved the extra bits! The eggs, mushrooms and broccolini were all cooked to perfection, literally perfect! The steak however was just a bit tough. It was more on the medium well side rather than medium rare which I personally would prefer. The mash was okay, again with personal preference I'd probably liked it to be extra ultra buttery and creamy! And the sauce, the red wine jus - it tasted a little like gravy, and I couldn't quite taste the red wine. I bet though, it would taste amazing if it was with say... garlic butter, or peppercorn sauce.
Right - let's move onto the hospitality. 5 stars to the front of house staff Paris - who made us feel welcomed, putting in 110% effort to make sure we were looked after. Even though with only one chef in the kitchen for the night, I was impressed by how capable the chef was, looking after and cooking for 3 large tables at once - 2 x 10 diners as well as 7 of us, big well done and big clap for the staff.
Strathmore Local is a good spot for those who don't want to go all the way to the CBD, but just want to conveniently stroll down the street for a drink, or a casual night out.
Overall with the food and dining experience, it is currently a 3.5/5. However, with the little adjustments for the steak, mash and options for sauces, there is a potential for a good solid 4/5!
