I usually go to the rathole often with my partner but I went there for dinner with my family and some friends lastnight. Really disappointed with the meal. I ordered the Ribeye steak 450grams cooked medium. It was cooked perfectly however when I was eating it, it tasted very unpleasant. I started to feel sick eating it so I asked a couple of other family how their steak was. One of them said theirs also tasted off so gave some to my dad to taste and he said it smelt rotten before he even tried any. We took our meals back to the chef and she said it was "aged beef" but it never said on the menu it was aged beef and it was definitely rotten beef. Very disappointed with this food. I ended up vomiting not long after eating it. The waiter was very apologetic with it and gave our money back.

Thanks to the lovely lady who is always working when I call into this place for my pokie fix.... I not only walked out after spending most of my money but this particular day, it didnt matter because I made a new friend (thanks for the towel lol....) Nice food, abliging staff. Liked the idea of helping yourself to side dishes. Good selection hot and cold. Will definately dine there again.

The rubbish hole.
Ordered a med rare/rare rib eye steak meal and the steak arrived well done.
Meal was very average (steak, salad, chips) and steak was chewy as!!
Doesn't look good when you can't cook a steak and the towns name is Bulls🙄
There's no excuse for a bullsh!t steak Anywhere.

I hadn't visited this establishment since 2020 which I found then was pretty average. On Friday night the whole experience was great. Good service and the food was good too.

The front door into the hotel (Hotel is also called the Rat Hole) looks dodgy, but once inside what a great country hotel. Friendly staff, huge selection of food and all well priced.
If you are hungry when traveling through Bulls, and could also do with a beer, don't let the name put you off, we'll worth the stop.

Top notch kai, amaaazing array of sides avail wonderfully fresh, beautifully presented, included in the price of your meal.

Nice stopover and with family friendly dining. Great pub meals (had the t-bone steak). Clearly popular spot with the locals and as you would expect ... everyone seemed to know each other.

19/4 unfortunately this visit, most things were overcooked (wedges/hot dogs/fries for the kids) my chicken was really dry. Family meal just short of $100 on just the food, slight disappointment. Menu needs a makeover to reflect the season. Not the best visit this time.

Simple menu and reasonably priced. Simple indoor decor. Clean and tidy.
Staff were helpful and friendly.

Must visit highly recommended. Restaurant well appointed, great ambience, service and selection of meals and refreshments. Meals are generous, great value and something for everyone's palette. I'll be back next time I'm bac in New Zealand.

Standard pub food, and staff was accomodating. Steak was nice and tender. Although the size has shrinked over the years, but all the meal sizes are still pretty decent for the price. Beware, the shrimp cocktail comes with half plate full of thousand island sauce.
