Overall this place was good value, however when ordering the roast (gluten free) from the menu, my order was taken along with everyone else's at the table. When the food was being brought out to the rest of the table, I was told that they couldn't actually do the roast gluten free (unsure why). This should have been pointed out at the time of ordering so that I could have ordered an alternative and eaten with the group. I went up to the counter to see what options were available and was advised that the other GF options that required the fryer weren't available either. This was because the fryer was predominantly used for breadcrumb dishes. This then meant that the GF wedges and GF sides (fries & wedges) were off the table. I was able to get the Ham dish with salad (minus the fries) in the end, though this was after being asked if I was taking my medication for Coeliac's disease (not a thing...). The chef and staff then made clear that although their menu states Gluten Free - it's more Gluten Friendly but it sounds as though that's a stretch as well.
At the end it was asked if I could get the cost of fries taken off my meal at least, but this wasn't a possibility. I was able to get 10% or half a soft drink taken off my bill but overall it wasn't a nice experience. Both myself and the rest of the group were disappointed with the results of what was supposed to be a nice father's day lunch.

We came here for a meal at the restaurant, this was by far one of the best places in South Canterbury to get a decent meal. The food was amazing . Fast efficient service, tasty food. Could not fault anywhere . Will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone and everyone I know 😁

My husband had the burger which was huge ! I had the chicken schnitzel which was perfectly cooked!

In this Day and Age Of Scams That Feels of an Intrusion of Privacy.

Have called in twice recently for a meal with a friend visiting from the UK and have been very impressed with the menu and prices. The staff are very efficient with meals served in a timely manner and also friendly. The difference it makes to see a smiling face serving you certainly makes for an enjoyable experience and I'm sure we will be back, with or without our visitor.

Great pub meal. I had the small roast beef on advice of friendly staff and it was prompt, good size and tasty. Well priced ( even cheap!)

What a wonderful place to have lunch...staff did an amazing job by sending food on time, fresh with any issues even they had only few at holiday time..home boys jump in and helped too and talk to customers on behalf of owners and apologize for any issues...which means the staff and owners should be amazing people..thank you.

In for lunch, great service, excellent prices and great meals. Caesar Salad and Lamb Shank meals were both excellent. Will make another stop here for sure.

There were 5 of us there. We had a couple of drinks in the bar which had a friendly atmosphere. Went through to dining room and ordered our meals which were soo yummy 😋 The dining room was packed by the time we left and I have to say the staff were amazing to the way they coped with so many people. Great place to go for wonderful food and drink

If you want great tasting quality food with generous portions you have to dine at Pleasant Point Hotel. We went on a Monday night when the restaurant seating area is closed however the full menu is available in the main bar. It was nice relaxing with the locals having a quiet beer while we enjoyed one of the best meals we've had in a long time. The roast beef was generously sliced with the accompanying roast vegetables perfectly cooked and topped off nicely with a delicious gravy.
The Pleasant Point burger was ginormous and really good I was told with 2 thick tasty meat patties.
I had the battered blue cod. The fish was moist and melted in my mouth surrounded by a crispy light batter. Absolutely delicious.
Our meal was nicely topped off with excellent friendly service which added to our enjoyment.
I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the bar and toilets were (toilets smelled lovely by the way)

Popped in here for an early dinner on Sunday on our way home and it was great! Although it was busy down the bar end with locals having a drink and playing pool we were made to feel very welcome. We all ended up having the roast which had a choice of two meat options - the prices are great and the meal sizes and quality were fantastic. They also have options for 60+ one of which is a smaller portion roast and dessert for $18 (they let me have this size even though I'm not in that age group and it was perfect, I couldn't have eaten any more). We would definitely recommend this place based on our experience and would be happy to make the 1hr trip back here for no other reason than to try the many other offerings on the menu. PS the toilets were immaculately clean, which is always a good sign : )

Sadly ,for the 1st time ,the waitress we had ,lacked customer interaction and pleasantries. A pleasant smile is ESSENTIAL !!!
