We had the Sunday Lunch special... the roast brisket on mash with roast pumpkin, carrots, pea puree, broccoli, crispy carrot ribbons and gravy. It was Absolutely DELICIOUS. Very generous portion of very lean, very tender brisket. All fresh vegetables. Did I mention....it was a mere $19.95, excellent value. Lovely friendly helpful staff, attentive without being a nuisance and rightly proud of their product. Rest of both bar and restaurant menus look good too... we will be back.

Great food and service just out of Christchurch, so it's a nice drive. I highly recommend for well cooked home style meals and large portions as well.

the lady with a bun was very unhelpful. my southern fried chicken was dry as it was overcooked. my husbands lamb shank was very nice. bad service from that one person does put you off going back

Best cheesy and garlic bread I've had! Hint of sweet chilly - delish! Staff were great and super friendly! Wine and food were excellent and filled our bellies right up! The snickers brownie was delicious! Would go there again in a heart beat!

Brilliant! Delicious food and generous portion sizes. Full of flavour and left me wanting to order more but I wouldn't be able to fit through the door.

I had lunch there yesterday(Sat 11th June) and my meal was awesome. I had a platter and it was tasty. I was thankful to be informed about the 45 minutes wait due to staff shortage and was happy to wait as they were open and honest about it. I will go back there again. I went there again yesterday (Friday 15th)and I received the same good service again. Food and drinks were amazing.

I had a roast meal there recently. Meat was very tender and vegetables cooked to perfection. One of the best roasts I have had this year.. very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Prices are very reasonable and Pineacres Restaurant and Bar is easy to see and get off and back on State Highway One.
Pit stop for people with lots of space for parking and nice rest rooms .
Food was the best value around the whole South island on our trip.

We stopped here for dinner after visiting Hanmer Hot Springs. Upon entering the premises, we were completely ignored by the waitperson who continued drying the silverwares with her back turned to us. We feel totally ignored, after letting her know that we are interested in getting dinner at the diner. Staff maybe tired but this is not good customer service. Staff exudes unfriendly and unwelcoming vibes...not good for business. The only saving grace of this place is the food. The food came out well-plated and in generous amount. It has home-cooked appearance that we liked. I would have given the place a higher rating for the food but considering the overall experience with the staff, i could not give more than two stars. So the verdict is: food is good, 3-4 stars; service/staff needs to be customer friendly, 1-2 stars.
