Good pub
They often have the deep fryer going.
Good sized fish and chip scoops and fair prices, good selection of cakes, sometimes, world class chocolate cake.
Fair priced drinks for any pub, for smokes, 4 Square is often a better deal.
Canvastown itself has it's own issues with a history of gold mining, possibly white mercury usage.

Had genuinely the best loaded wedges here that we've had in our entire lives - extremely crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. Loads of toppings and a massive portion for the price.
Beer on tap was great as well, service was lovely but not overbearing.
Really recommend this place - if you come from the city you know pubs in the middle of nowhere are usually a hit or miss (often miss) and this place was a huge hit for us. If we're ever around the area again would be coming back as many times as we can - enjoyed it that much!

Very nice Travern. We stopped over for coffee and cakes while passing by. Everything was reasonably priced and service was outstanding. Highly recommend others to visit and support this business.

Excellent place to stay or enjoy the wonderful food from the kitchen. Under new management the Pelorus Tavern has a warm and relaxed vibe to it. The rooms are very comfortable and very reasonably priced. Alot of people in the place the night we stayed, either locals or travellers. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for a night while cycle touring. New owners were so hospitable. Stored our bikes and helped us dry our wet gear. Lovely room. Great food. Highly recommend.

We stayed around the back of the pub in our caravan for a couple of nights. We had lunch and dinner here and the food was delicious! Probably some of the best chips we have had on our travels! The bar staff were lovely and it had a great atmosphere.

Called in after a walk for a drink and a snack. Welcomed as soon as we approached the entrance, great bar staff, friendly and helpful. The place was clean and inviting, casual relaxed atmosphere. The beer was good, well kept and although the menu relied heavily on the deep fryer, it was plentiful, well priced and filling.

"Pencilled in" a room for three weeks well in advance. When I called back to confirm the booking, I was told there were no longer any rooms available. Seems that they developed sudden amnesia regarding my first phone call, even though my details were written down at the time. Won't bother making any bookings here again or recommend to anyone else.

Old establishment in need of some TLC which it's receiving from the new owners. Ultra friendly and helpful owners and staff. Would happily stay there again and recommend it. May be back in March.

Stopped in for a beer , quite relaxing sitting in the sun having a cold beer . It's good to see people stopping in. Room to park motorhomes out the back powered and unpowered sites. Pelorus hotel is one of the names on the Hotel , but i believe it still trades under the Trout Hotel . Staff friendly and helpful and made you welcome .
