Second time there and what a lovely place. Tried a vegetarian pizza which was to die for, apple pie was excellent and the beer and service were just as great as the first time with the guiness being one of the best in wellington. Live music was also very pleasant too and the place has a lovely, cozy and warm atmosphere overall. This has become one of my new favorite spots in Wellington.

Wow what a neat place I love my Irish Pubs and this place was fantastic! Played all the great Irish songs, meal was great also mini chicken Parma was massive - certainly worth $16 if we were back in our home town we'd be paying $23 for same meal. So really cool, loved the booths felt like I was in confessional 😂

Had a fantastic time here over 2 days. Good pizzas on their Wednesday 2 for 1 deal and fun having dinner & playing pool on Thursday

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting JJ Murphy and Co, an Irish bar located on Cuba Street. It was an experience that left a lasting impression, offering a vibrant atmosphere and a taste of Irish hospitality right in the heart of Wellington.

JJ Murphy and Co is a large pub, bustling with activity and brimming with character. One of the standout features of this establishment is its layout, with numerous alcoves and seating booths that create a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Whether you're looking for a quiet corner to chat with friends or seeking a bit of privacy, these alcoves provide the perfect setting. Additionally, the pool area and stage add an extra dimension to the venue, offering entertainment and a focal point for live performances on most nights.

The bar boasts a good selection of drinks, catering to a variety of preferences. From Irish whiskeys to locally crafted beers, there is something to please every palate. The attentive and friendly staff were knowledgeable about the offerings, always ready to offer suggestions and recommendations to enhance the overall experience.

One of the highlights of JJ Murphy and Co is the opportunity to sit outside and watch the world go by on Cuba Street. It's a fantastic vantage point to soak up the bustling energy of the city while enjoying a refreshing drink or a tasty meal. The eclectic and vibrant atmosphere of Cuba Street perfectly complements the lively ambiance of JJ Murphy and Co, making it a unique and memorable destination.

Overall, my visit to JJ Murphy and Co was an enjoyable one. The large pub with its alcoves, seating booths, and entertainment options created a warm and inviting environment. The good selection of drinks, coupled with the option to sit outside and immerse oneself in the vibrant surroundings of Cuba Street, made for a delightful experience. If you're looking for a taste of Irish charm and a bit of excitement off the beaten path, JJ Murphy and Co is a place worth visiting.

The ambience is normal, as is the food. However, it's a rather nice (and free) place to spend some time with your friends playing as there are 5 pools. Nice staff, reasonable prices, and good location.

Very bad service by the female manager on duty, we do understand about rules in place re public holidays, Buutttt there is such a thing as the delivery of that message to patrons!!! The way you get spied on while being seated, the lack of items to order on food menu!!, and then worst of all the fries were cooked in old oil, probably from yesterday!!! You need to do better!!!

The food and drinks here are amazing value. Outside is a great spot to people watch. Staff are always decent here too. They have these really cool little booths out the back too that I would recommend checking out

My Welly friends chose to dine here when I was in town for WoW. Location great and staff helpful. Other than this my meal (pork ribs) was quite terrible. The meat did not fall off the bone and the sauce wasn't great either. I didn't finish it as I had no interest in eating meat that had the texture of rubber. Fries and salad were fine. Garlic bread could have been more buttery and should be advertised as "one half of a long bread roll". The man performing didn't really add to the dining experience either. He was way too loud which was a bit odd for dinner time. My friends and I had to yell to conversate and we were sitting close to each other. I would not go back based on this experience.

Once again a fantastic experience.
Haven't had liver and bacon or a Guinness for some time, both were exceptional.
Staff are great as always, fast, efficient and welcoming.
Looking forward to popping in again next time in Wellington.

A brilliant spot on Cuba Street. Great food, sports on the big screen and cold beer. What more do you need?

Great atmosphere. Fish and chips were great . Luckily I had the chicken wing starter as the lamb shank was as tough as old boots. I'm a carnivore and couldn't eat it.
Took it back but they didnt care. My lose

Edited review. The staff that were rude are long gone, and the new crew here is amazing. The owner has definitely upgraded the recruitment process. Amazing bunch of people, right down to the bouncers on at night! Getting alot more busier here to since the pandemic restrictions have been lifted. Good to see a Cuba Street iconic bar still going strong!

The bar is great, the jugs are great, the decor and overall traditional vibe is great. The quiz master is honestly just really not good! She's not entertaining, or engaging, or funny; it takes far too long to get through a round and honestly I'm sure any randomly selected person would be better suited to the job. Sorry queen, I'm sure you're lovely; but it's just a bit of a downer.

good place. Live music most nights. Staff friendly, but stressed by poor Eftpos setup. A busy pub and boss still not making things easy for staff.
Busy gambling room but no cash machine, so staff have to fill hoppers, and can't serve drinks.

A nice café with friendly staff, and cheap nicely-cooked English style breakfast. The lighting feels a little bit gloomy and dark, especially when the sky is cloudy. Ambiance is definitely of an English pub.

This iconic Cuba Mall pub embraces all the traditional English pub aesthetic. What made the experience great was the hostess who greeted us at the front door and was the epitome of efficient, friendly service with a smile (which I felt even through her mask). A reasonably affordable jug of beer ($10 at the time of writing), fresh fries and delicious calamari - all provided quickly and presented enticingly - I'm looking forward to visiting here more often.
