What a joke of a place this is. On a All Black game day, they were running around singing Karaoke, as soon as kick off time came they cranked up this karaoke thing by bunch of stragglers. Totally uncouth, I mean who does this? We went there to watch the game, its part of our culture, had to leave about halk time. These Indians are going around buying local pubs and running it like a dairy, they have no idea about kiwi culture, so offensive and disgraceful. Never again.

Normal bar where you do feel welcome/also if you like to be left alone type of buzz good. friendly crack up local people to. Nice place to crack a cold beverage after work

I enjoy my visits to the Horse & Hound, I am not a regular, it's no frills, the staff and customers are really great, it brings back memories of the pubs in the Taupo District, I used to live and work in Tokoroa in the 1960s, it has a good atmosphere and I have found the patrons to be very friendly and I have enjoyed the snacks, TAB as well and everyone behaving themselves, agree it's not the place for a candle lit supper but a good place for a beer and chat 10/10%

Fantastic staff and a great pub, but there's a giant sign on the front of the building which says "Poker league every Monday and Thursday. *registration*: 6:30 PM. Tournament starts 7:00 PM.".

Yet when I arrived at 6:30 PM they'd already started playing and I'm told it's too late for me to register.

It's layed back, don't have to dress up. Atmosphere is superb, meals are great, drinks are reasonable and it has pool tables and a gaming room . May not be flash but overly packed sometimes.

Haven't been back here for 23 years. It's changed alot but food, service and entertainment is awesome. Played back place and worth it.
