I have to share a genuinely fun night bowling and other fun games at Phoenix complex Oamaru. The atmosphere at this venue was comfortable and facilities at a good standard. A special mention to the young man that was overseeing the bowling on the night we were there (Saturday 21st may)..he was across a number of duties/tasks while attending to customers with a really pleasant demeanor.
I observed this young man is clearly an asset to his employer. All over the owner and team are doing a great job!!!. Approachable, accomodating and down to earth. We didn't have a meal-therefore my rating but..I definitely recommend the Phoenix complex and have already made plans to return!

Manager woman was extremely rude when we came in tonight for bowling & dinner saying we hadn't made a reservation when we had, and that WE should've gotten the name of whoever we spoke to on the phone like it was our responsibility and our fault that the booking wasn't in the system!
Extra ⭐ only for the lady who ended up sorting out our booking for the bowling and being friendly and accommodating however we were put off staying for dinner because of the manager being unpleasant and the generally unwelcome atmosphere. We are visitors from another city returning to this venue when it was previously the Galleon complex but as we won't be back it's lost custom for them.

Service was slow. 1 meal never arrived. No food for allergy sufferers identified and when I asked waitstaff made a quick exit and then forgot to enquire in kitchen. Very slack and if could give a minus rating I would.

Family all went bowling. Had great time. Awesome staff with sense of humour. Will be back. Worth driving from Timaru for a game.

Food was amazing, waitress was nice. Ten pin bowling kept braking down kinda ruined it. Needs maintenance, big time

The staff are so welcoming excellent with kids food was money well spent good size and cooked just rite.

Treat night out, and bad experience
Ordered a ribeye steak, and had grissel in it, worst steak I have ever had in a restaurant. We complained and the lady manager accused me of eating too much of my steak to then complain, be careful if you have any complaints, tell them before you eat it, or that's your fault.

Came here for a beer and wee feed, customer service was great, paid $12 for fish and chips
100% satisfied with the service.
Worth spending money here.
I would recommend it to everyone.

We were a party of six adults and there was not one complaint. Huge meals and yummy. Staff were super friendly and the restaurant looks great. It is now our go to in Oamaru.

Update: July 2022. Popped in hoping for a quick evening meal before the rugby! Staff were so accommodating and friendly! We had a very nice meal - couldn't fault it! The new decor is looking great too!

After a game of bowls (which was fun) the 4 of us went to the restaurant. Only 4 other people there. Over an hour later staff were very apologetic and telling us our meals would not be long but it was too little too late! I think they forgot us which is very hard to believe with only 1 other table of diners. When they finally arrived (1 1/4 hours) the meals were nice and they gave us free ice cream in an attempt to make up for the big delay. I wouldn't normally write a bad review but it's not the first time I've been let down at this restaurant.

Went for a meal then black light ten pin bowling. We enjoyed our meals and the staff was friendly. People that I spoke to were uncertain that it was open. Well it is and doing great. Would recommend going here. Loved the 10 pin bowling and it's cheaper on Thursdays only $7 per game.

Most of the food was delicious, though the fries were barely edible. Ten pin bowling after was fun especially once the Black Light special came into effect. Would love to visit again next time in town
