Resteraunt: Good dinner meal and mostly friendly staff. Just had a weird experience where we waited a very long time for dessert.. staff would occasionally stop by and say 'oh! Have you not recieved your cake yet? What! I'll go check...' and then silence. Our dinner dishes were never cleared away. Staff cleaned up all other tables, reset the room etc, but seamed to be avoiding us. We asked a few times about our order and didn't get any answers. Eventually just asked for a refund and left with a very upset child. Would have much preferred a straight up answer of 'sorry no cake' instead of an hour of waiting and confusion.

My family and I came her for lunch today and were really unimpressed by the manger. She was incredibly rude to both us and her young waitress about us bringing our dogs to the outdoor area. The first thing we asked on arriving was if we were allowed to bring our dogs in, which the waitress told us was fine. We heard the manager have a go at the young woman and be very rude about getting us a bowl of water for the dogs, but didn't say anything about us not being allowed to have them there. She waited until we'd been seated, ordered, and started our drinks before very rudely telling us we had to take the dogs away and leave them in the car while we ate. It's the middle of summer which is why we looked for somewhere dog friendly so as not to leave them in the car in the heat. It wasn't made clear to us why the dogs suddenly became a problem - they're well trained and very friendly, and we were the only customers there. Just really unimpressed with the way she spoke to both us and her young waitress (who I must say was lovely).

We had a funl family dinner. All four of us had beautiful food. Waitress was delightful. Very proud of our Darfield 'local'.

Such a cool vibe here at the Darfield motel, the staff are the best hosts ever and so make you feel at home away from home, I wish I could take the staff home. The locals are so chilled and friendly, Spend 2 weeks here, I can't wait to come back! Darfield motel and community you are the best!

This has to be the worse restaurant in New Zealand ordered our food waited over an hour in the mean while other people had came in and order and got there dinner. We asked how long still nothing after another 30 mins we left without dinner. Was also other tables sending there dinners back for being cold. No sorry nothing either. (This the restaurant not the pub)

Fantastic service here. I am always surprised by how high the standard of servise is here. Well trained staff that check back throughout meals etc.
We usually leave a tip because they are so good.

Went here as a big group this evening and I did really love it. The food was standard pub style, quite good. Dessert of sticky date cake was excellent! Loved that they had little activity packs for the kids too. I'm super impressed at their ability to produce good quality meals and deliver them all at the same time. The service was absolutely fantastic! Friendly, attentive, even managed to get the right meals to the right people, and there were about 16 of us! The only ever so slight downside is that the mains were a wee bit pricey for pub food, but there were a good range of options to suit different budgets and even a seniors menu so that's cool. Thanks for a good evening! 😁
