Lovely comfortable room in a really nice hotel but the rooms are not sound proof at all & I kept waking up through the night as I could clearly hear people talking. At first (10.30pm) it sounded like it was people in another room or in the hall, then from about midnight thru to 2.30am it sounded like it was two guys in a bar but there wasn't a bar below or outside & then about 5.00am I could hear a man & woman talking. Worst nights sleep I've had for quite a while so I doubt I'll be back.

This is our second stay at this iconic and beautiful hotel. We have now stayed in the Jean Batten suite and on our recent visit the Anna Pavlova suite. Both were outstanding in both facilities and decor. The location is second to none, right in the heart of Napier, and when you're on the balcony you look straight out to sea over the stunning Sound Shell square opposite.
All the staff were amazing and couldn't be more helpful. This is an absolute must when you visit Napier, you will not regret it!

My husband and I had a great stay at the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and uniquely decorated. The staff were wonderful. Gabriel was very helpful and knowledgeable about the food and museums in the town. Everyone there was friendly. We will definitely go back.

Lovely staff, beautiful decor. Plumbing and ventilation is what you would expect of an older building. A bit more attention to detail in cleaning of bathroom floor, but otherwise a comfortable stay. Good access to balcony.

We booked last minute and the stay was great. The Receptionist was amazing, going above and beyond to help us after the booking we had elsewhere was messed up. He helped us with everything, including contacting the chef in the Pub to see if he'd cook us dinner despite the kitchens having just closed. Very comfy rooms, nice bathrooms. Not a bad word to say about the place.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this hotel! After a horrible experience at another hotel, my partner and I were desperate to find a new place to stay, and this hotel came through for us in a big way. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, even though we arrived very late at night. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, making for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Additionally, the location couldn't have been better - there were so many fun and interesting attractions nearby to explore. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay - you won't be disappointed!

The manager of the hotel, the dear man - Graham - a unique personality: his approach to hotel guests, his professionalism, his presence at the right time and in the right place, sets a personal example for his employees. And so in direct consequence, his wonderful team functions: with a smile from the first moment you arrive at the reception and present with you every moment during your stay at the hotel. Even in the good times and especially in the hard times!!! With you and for you all the way. They simply gave peace of mind and complete security before and during the cyclone - Gabriel. I am so proud and happy that I chose this hotel while in Napier. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart friends. Wonderful hotel for a few days in Napier. The staff was all very friendly, the room was lovely, bed was comfortable, bathroom and shower were great - no complaints. :) The location is centrally located so anything you may want to do in Napier will likely pick up at the hotel or be close to the hotel.

We were last minute guests on a busy weekend, Zoe, who handled the call did so with kindness, forethought and patience.
The rooms were comfortable and the bed very comfortable.
Room cleaning left a little to be desired but apart from that the stay was very enjoyable.

Great location loved the access to the rooftop terrace from the room. Friendly welcoming staff. Would have liked the shower to have a bit more pressure but loved the decor of the hotel and the lounge area. Would stay here again for sure.

Arrived in Napier later in the day and was drawn to stay here so we tried to book direct online and ended up frustrated as the day/month reverted to US geared month/day. So we used another service to book expecting the noted 'free car parking'. On arrival the receptionist told us that no longer applied (due to not booking direct) and a charge would apply ($11/overnight). The room was OK - for price paid it would be nice to be supplied shower cap (in room) and an actual information booklet (in room) regarding local services/attractions/dining options. The Wi-Fi password provided didn't work (even when receptionist offered another network to access). Additional to that I had an interesting night...thought there was a presence (friendly male) in the room /kept smelling tobacco or smoke smell in the bathroom, hearing music...not the usual experience as it were. Only after I left did I decide to do some online research and was honestly fascinated. Hopefully management embrace the energy that clearly has a strong connection here and treat it with the respect that is deserved. Not all guests will sense what came through on our stay but don't ignore those who do. Such potential to be exceptional if managed respectfully. Strongly sense we were 'pulled in' to stay in the room we did. Would like to rate so much higher as you can offer so much more quite easily via a few minor adjustments. Totally understand wanting to channel the attraction away from certain things...but you can certainly offer something that just needs acknowledgment rather than promotion.

Ideal place to stay while visiting Napier on holiday. Close to beach and other attractions including restaurants & cafes. It does also have on site restaurants. The fact that we were staying in a iconic art deco building was the icing on the cake. Our room opened out on the balcony which would be awesome during the summer. The rooms were comfortable, clean & well appointed. If money had allowed staying in one of the themes studio rooms would have been great. The only issues was that I wish hotels supplied two hand towels and milk had come supplied in a bottle.

Hotel room was really nice with lovely outdoor seating area. It would have been nice to have the heating on a bit longer before we arrived as it took a long time to warm up. Spacious eating and lounge area. Paid for breakfast at Globe Restaurant, service good but food definitely below average, disappointing, so much so didn't return after first morning.

Stylish high quality hotel with beautiful character features. Perfect central location opposite the beach and central to city centre entertainment.
Book direct and get free parking and a free room upgrade on Tuesdays if available!
King room was stylish, comfortable and with modern bathroom.

A beautiful hotel in the centre of town.
Parking was a small issue due to celebrations for Matariki, but I found a park close by and the moved my car closer once the roads reopened.
The room was comfortable and looks on to the patio area. Looks like a great place for a G&T in summer.

Jack at reception was simply amazing. In fact all the staff were great. Our room was stunning, spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on.
The restaurant well priced and excellent value. Cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience. Will certainly be back. Already planing to stay several days next time.

The Masonic has recently been refurbished and it is magnificent. The refurbishment has struck the right balance between preserving the Art Deco style of the hotel and providing top-class, modern facilities. We were utterly charmed by our rooms and the rest of the property.
The staff were attentive and welcoming, and Housekeeping in particular deserve a mention for the immaculate state of the hotel.
The location is perfect, being in the heart of Napier and opposite a stunning sea view.
We can't recommend the property highly enough and are already looking forward to our next stay.
